Columbia, MO –Job Point is pleased to announce that it will host its Spring 2025 Graduation Ceremony, sponsored by Blitz, Bardgett & Deutsch and MFA Oil Company, at 4:00 pm on May 29, in the beautiful Bixby Hall in the Brouder Science Center at Columbia College. Staff, graduates and their families will gather to recognize each of the outstanding students for their academic achievements.
The program will begin with a special keynote presentations from Sarah Read and Chris Horn. Read and Horn are members of Columbia’s Metro Rotary club which sponsored both a Wonderland Camp service learning trip and the Cooking Connections program for YouthBuild students.
Sarah Read is the President-Elect for Columbia Metro Rotary, the Rotary District 6080 Peacebuilder Chair and a long-time community volunteer. She is a retired lawyer and received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and her law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Much of Sarah’s legal work centered on conflict resolution and she continues to facilitate difficult dialogues within organizations and communities. She has two daughters and two grandsons.
Chris Horn is a University of Missouri graduate with a degree in mathematics. He has a deep commitment to both professional excellence and community service. Chris is a Principal Treaty Reinsurance Underwriter, holding multiple industry designations and licenses. His career began as an intern and has taken him through leadership roles in claims and reinsurance—with a unique detour serving as a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chris is a dedicated community leader. He serves on nonprofit boards, is an active Rotarian, and is a former school board member. He and his wife are raising three young children, and his life reflects a balance of presence with family, hard work, and service to others.
Following the presentation of certificates, graduates, faculty and family members will have the opportunity to speak. Many typically use this space to share their individual stories and encouragement for others. The ceremony will also be live-streamed on Job Point’s Facebook page for those who are unable to attend in person.
The celebration will conclude with a reception for graduates and their families.
