The event was attended by representatives from University of Missouri Extension’s Missouri Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, Job Point’s staff and students and members of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. Brief remarks were shared about the importance of this designation and why Job Point believes it is important for their organization.
“We believe in creating an environment where the people we serve can thrive. No matter what they’re going through, it is our mission to help them continue to persevere and overcome the barriers that have historically kept them from success. With our commitment to being a Recovery Friendly Workplace, we are publicly proclaiming that same approach to support, patience and understanding applies to our employees,” said John Scalise, President and CEO of Job Point.
Job Point released this official statement:
Job Point is committed to creating a healthy, safe and stigma-free work environment through our participation in the Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) Missouri Initiative. A Recovery Friendly Workplace fosters a workplace culture that promotes employee safety, health and well-being, including reducing stigma and providing recovery resources related to the challenges surrounding substance use disorders. In all we do at Job Point, we strive to create an environment and culture that is welcoming, supportive and judgment free. We believe in the potential and humanity of our current and future employees. In order to achieve a high level of employee health, safety and productivity, we invite and encourage all employees to reach out for help and support.
The Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative is an effort to foster workplace culture that promotes employee safety, health, and well-being through strategies that provide support for managers and employees, including reducing stigma and providing recovery resources related to the challenges surrounding substance use disorders. The coalition provides training and support for employers to equip them with the tools to better serve their employees and support them through recovery.
The “Recovery Friendly Workplace” designation is awarded to businesses that demonstrate a commitment to supporting employees in recovery through proactive policies, education, and resources. By achieving this status, Job Point joins a growing number of organizations in Missouri dedicated to promoting recovery and reducing the stigma associated with substance use disorders.
