On Friday, September 26, Job Point celebrated the kick-off of its newest employment support program, Employment Services Plus. Staff from the central Missouri regional offices of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and Job Point gathered to celebrate this new initiative, discuss new partnership opportunities and explore ways the organizations can collaborate to better serve job candidates with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum.
According to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Employment Services Plus (ESP) is a “job placement model developed by Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) in 2012, designed to serve as an alternative to the traditional Supported Employment (SE) and Employment Services (ES) job placement options.”
With Job Point’s recent accreditation by CARF, with a record 99.3% on their review, and approval by VR to provide this specialized employment service, the State of Missouri can now boast 14 available providers across the state ready to serve job candidates on the spectrum.
Because Job Point has long provided employment services and support for job candidates on the spectrum, they are proud to officially add ESP as an accredited service to their available programs and begin helping even more mid-Missourians find meaningful, community-based work.
“We have been serving job candidates with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum for a long time, but through this new program, we will have access to additional resources and tools that will enhance the long-term success of our candidates on-the-job, with individualized supports that truly address their unique needs,” John Scalise, President and CEO of Job Point, said.
Employment Services and Employment Services Plus are programs within Job Point’s Rehabilitation Services department. These services are provided in partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation and available to eligible Missourians. Typically, individuals are referred from a counselor with one of these great state agencies:
- Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation(MDVR)
- Rehabilitation Services for the Blind
- Missouri Department of Mental Health
- Division of Developmental Disabilities
- Central Missouri Regional Office
